Wispr Flow alternative
The Wispr Flow alternative that works with Wi-Fi off
VoxTap is an offline Wispr Flow alternative for macOS. Speech is transcribed on your Mac, so it works without internet and your voice never leaves the device. It types into every app - Claude Code, Cursor, Slack, Notion - learns your technical vocabulary, and costs $39 once instead of $15/month. Free 45-minute trial, no signup.

We filmed the test Wispr Flow can't pass
One sentence, five technical terms: Parakeet-TDT, Kubernetes, Terraform, gRPC, Nginx. Same mic, same room, one take, no edits. Then we turned Wi-Fi off on camera.
1/5
Apple Dictation
"Kubernetes" became "coordinate stage". "gRPC endpoint" became "and point".
3/5
Wispr Flow
Missed two terms and rewrote the sentence into a numbered to-do list nobody asked for. With Wi-Fi off, it stopped transcribing entirely.
5/5
VoxTap
Every term correct, with Wi-Fi off, because My Vocabulary had learned them once.
Why people switch from Wispr Flow
The bill stops.
Wispr Flow costs $144 to $180 a year, forever. Dictation is a utility, like a keyboard: you should not pay rent on it. VoxTap is $39 once, with lifetime updates. It pays for itself in about two months.
Your voice stays home.
Wispr Flow sends your audio to cloud servers for transcription. VoxTap transcribes on your Mac's own silicon. Turn Wi-Fi off and watch it keep typing: privacy you can verify, not a policy you have to believe.
It never loses your words.
Cloud dictation drops your sentence when the connection blips. VoxTap saves every take to local, searchable history before inserting it, so a flaky network or a mis-click never eats a thought.

When Wispr Flow is the better pick
- - You need dictation on Windows, iPhone or Android. VoxTap is Mac-only.
- - You want your words actively rewritten: tones, per-app styles, whisper-quiet input. That is Wispr Flow's specialty, and it is genuinely good at it.
- - You dictate in a language outside VoxTap's 25.
We would rather you pick the right tool than regret ours. If that is Wispr Flow, enjoy it. If what you actually need is fast, private, accurate typing that you own, keep reading.
Maksym Lypivskyi
AI R&D director. Builder of VoxTap.
I dictate prompts into Claude Code all day, and I don't want my voice, my code, or my clients' names on someone else's server. So I built the tool I wanted: on-device, one hotkey, paid for once. The video above is one take with no edits. That's the product, not the pitch.
Three years of Wispr Flow: about $500.
VoxTap: $39. Once.
The Wi-Fi-Off Guarantee: download VoxTap, turn off your internet, and dictate. If 45 free minutes don't convince you, you've lost nothing - no signup, no card. If you buy and change your mind, email support within 14 days for a full refund, no questions asked.

Switching from Wispr Flow: FAQ
Is VoxTap really 100% offline?
Yes. Transcription runs on your Mac's own chip, not on a server. You can verify it yourself: turn off Wi-Fi mid-dictation and VoxTap keeps typing. That is exactly what the video on this page shows, in one take.
Does it work in Claude Code, Cursor and my IDE?
Yes. VoxTap is system-wide: press the hotkey and text appears at your cursor in Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Terminal, Slack, Notion, or any other app with a text cursor. No per-app setup.
Can it learn my technical terms like Wispr Flow's dictionary?
Yes. My Vocabulary teaches the speech engine your terms once, then corrects them in every transcription: product names, code terms, people. It works at the engine level, including in German, French and Ukrainian, and it works offline.
Does VoxTap rewrite my text with AI like Wispr Flow?
No, and that is a deliberate choice. VoxTap removes filler words and fixes your custom terms, but it types what you said. In our test, cloud rewriting turned one spoken sentence into a numbered to-do list nobody asked for. If you want heavy AI rewriting, Wispr Flow does it better.
How much do I save compared to Wispr Flow?
Wispr Flow costs $144 to $180 a year, every year. VoxTap costs $39 once, with lifetime updates. It pays for itself in about two months and saves roughly $500 over three years.
What if VoxTap doesn't work for me?
The trial is 45 free minutes of transcription with no signup and no card. If you buy and change your mind, email support@voxtap.app within 14 days for a full refund, no questions asked.
